Lock Scheme Options
Your student's lock scheme determines how they advance through BA Online's learning content. By default, the lock scheme for a new Student Account is automatically set to Sequential. However, you can change your student's lock scheme under the Subscriptions tab on your Parent Account page at any point.
We offer three lock schemes, each of which can be overridden by manual locks:
| Lock Scheme | Recommended Parent Involvement | Description |

| Sequential | None (independent work) | Only the first lesson in each chapter up to the start of a student's level is unlocked. Students unlock new lessons and chapters as they earn stars. |
| All Chapters | Supervision recommended | The first lesson in every chapter in every level is unlocked. Students can play any chapter in any level and unlock new lessons as they earn stars. |
| Free Play | Close guidance recommended | Every lesson is unlocked. Students can play any lesson in any chapter in any level. You can also choose whether or not to unlock all chapter tests and the Puzzle Lab. |
How to Update Your Student's Lock Scheme
- Access Parent Account Page
- Edit Lock Scheme
On your Parent Account page:
- Locate the student whose lock scheme you'd like to change.
- Select the Pencil icon next to their current lock scheme.
- Select Lock Scheme and Save Changes
In the Lock Scheme dialog box:
- Select the Lock Scheme you'd like to set for your student.
- Select Save Changes.
As soon as you save your changes, they will be reflected in your Parent Account and your student's BA Online learning experience once they reload the page. If your student will need to access a different level/chapter, they'll need to navigate there.
How Students Can Navigate to a Different Chapter
- Select View All Chapters
From the Class, select the View All Chapters button.
- Select Chapter
