There are two ways that you can lock and unlock levels, chapters, lessons, tests, and puzzles in Beast Academy Online (BA Online): By setting the lock scheme and by individually locking and unlocking levels, chapters, lessons, tests, and puzzles.
This guide covers the three types of lock schemes and how to update your student's lock scheme.
Note:
- If your student's current BA Online access was provided through AoPS Academy, you won't have access to adjust their locks or lock schemes as they are automatically set and adjusted.
- You can lock/unlock content on a more granular level through manual locks.
- You can change your student's BA Online level at any point.
- If your student is playing BA Online while you change their lock scheme, the changes will be reflected once they reload any page within BA Online. They don't need to sign out and back in for the changes to be reflected on their end.
Lock Scheme Options
You originally set your student's default lock scheme when you set up their Student Account. However, you can change their lock scheme under the Subscriptions tab on your Parent Account page at any point.
We offer three lock schemes, each of which can be overridden by manual locks:

How to Update Your Student's Lock Scheme
1. Access Parent Account Page
2. Edit Lock Scheme
On your Parent Account page:
- Locate the student whose lock scheme you'd like to change.
- Select the Pencil icon next to their current lock scheme.
3. Select Lock Scheme and Save Changes
In the Lock Scheme dialog box:
- Select the Lock Scheme you'd like to set for your student.
- Select Save Changes.
As soon as you save your changes, they will be reflected in your Parent Account and your student's BA Online learning experience once they reload the page.
