After purchasing your student's Beast Academy Online (BA Online) subscription and confirming your Parent Account email address, you'll need to set up their Student Account so they can start learning. Since your student's subscription begins immediately after purchase, completing this setup promptly allows them to begin using BA Online right away.
This guide covers how to set up your student's account.
Note:
- Before setting up your student's account, you'll need to first purchase their BA Online subscription.
- We recommend that your student be present when you set up their account.Doing so will build excitement and ownership of their learning experience while ensuring they select sign-in credentials they like.
- Once you've set up your student's account, you can easily switch from your Parent Account to their Student Account without entering their credentials.
1. Sign in to beastacademy.com
2. Select Let's Go!
Note: You can also select Set Up Later during this step. However, your student won't be able to play BA Online until you complete their account setup. To return to the student account setup, go to your Parent Reports page and select the Get Started button in your student's progress panel.
On the Student Account Setup Welcome screen, select the Let's Go! button.
If you don't see this screen, there are several other ways you can start the Student Account setup process. These include:
- By visiting your Parent Reports page and selecting the Get Started button in the student progress panel.
- By visiting your Parent Accounts page and selecting the Set Up Account button in the student subscription settings.
- By hovering over the Play link on the top right of any page at beastacademy.com and selecting the student's name that appears gray in the dropdown. Gray names indicate Student Accounts that still need to be set up.
Note: You can only set up one student at a time.
If you have multiple students needing setup, you'll see all their names and default avatars on this screen. To start the Student Account setup process:
- Select a student.
- Select Let's Go!
When you've completed the account setup process for that student, you'll have the option to continue the setup process for another student's account.
Note: Each student starts with a standard avatar. Once they begin playing BA Online, they'll earn Beast Bucks that can be redeemed for Beast parts to customize their avatar.
3. Select Age
Providing your student's age will help us recommend the best level to start your student at.
To provide your student's age:
- Select their age from the Age dropdown.
- Select Continue.
4. Confirm Level
While each BA Online subscription provides students with access to all levels and material within BA Online, setting a level for your student determines where they'll start. Our official recommendation is to place students in levels by age. Because of this, we preload a level recommended for your student based on their age. However, you can change your student's level at any point in the future through your Parent Account page.
To confirm your student's level:
- Optional: If you'd like to select a different level, you can navigate left or right through the level icons to choose a different level.
- Select We're Ready!
5. Create Username
Our system uses student usernames to uniquely identify your student, track their progress, and display their achievements on the leaderboard. They'll be using this username, along with their password, to sign in to BA Online.
5.1. Tell Us About Yourself
- Have your student select a word that describes them and their favorite animal.
- These words will be combined with a number to generate a unique username.
- Select Continue.
5.2. Confirm Username
Note: Your student's username cannot be changed later so ensure that it's a name they like before moving on to the next step. If they would like a different username, they can select Change My Name to be brought back to the previous screen.
If your student likes their name, select I Like It!
6. Specify a Password
- In the Password fields, have your student enter the password that they'll use to sign in to BA Online.
- Select Confirm.
Note:
- Passwords must be at least five characters long and can't include the student's nickname or any part of their BA Online username.
- You can change your student's password at any point from your Parent Account page.
Selecting Confirm will complete your student's account setup.
Once your student's account is set up:
- Your student will be able to use their username and password to sign in to BA Online as a student.
- Your student's lock scheme, which determines how they advance through BA Online's learning content, will be automatically set to Sequential, which is our official recommendation for most students. However, you can change their lock scheme as well as their level at any time.
If you have more students to set up accounts for, you'll see a link to set up another Student Account at the bottom of the Confirmation screen. Select the link to begin the setup process for your next student.
