Beast Academy

Subscriptions Overview

Updated on

Subscriptions provide your student with access to Beast Academy Online (BA Online).

This guide covers:

Common Subscription and Account Terms

There are three common terms that you'll hear when it comes to BA Online accounts and subscriptions:

  • Parent Account
  • Student Account
  • Student Subscription

The table below provides more information on each of the above terms:

Term Purpose Created
Parent Account Allows you to manage your students' accounts and subscriptions as well as monitor their progress Upon purchase of first BA Online student subscription
Student Subscription Allows an individual student to access BA Online for a specified duration of time
Upon purchase of BA Online student subscription
Student Account Unique sign-in credentials that allow your student to access BA Online During Student Account setup, which happens after you complete the purchase of a BA Online student subscription

Tip: To learn more about Parent and Student Accounts, refer to our accounts overview.

Subscription Types

Three types of student subscriptions to BA Online are offered:

  • Monthly Subscriptions
  • Yearly Subscriptions
  • 1-year subscription (Bundle)

If you have more than one student under your Parent Account, you can sign each of your students up for different subscription types, or for the same subscription type. Some parents purchase Monthly Subscriptions for some of their students and Yearly Subscriptions for others. Other parents choose to have their students all under one subscription type.

We offer sibling discounts for those with more than one student in Monthly Subscriptions or more than one student in Yearly Subscriptions.

This table provides more information on what's included in each subscription type as well as the renewal and cancellation processes.

Subscription Type Included Renewal Process Cancellation Process
Monthly Subscription Access to BA Online (all levels) Automatic (Monthly) Subscription and order cancellation overview
Yearly Subscription Access to BA Online (all levels)
Automatic (Yearly)
1-year subscription (Bundle) 1-year subscription to BA Online (all levels) and one full level of printed books Manual (1-Year)

Note:

  • If you create a new subscription for a student with an existing subscription, we can't combine subscriptions. Therefore, it's highly suggested that you renew the existing subscription to ensure that your student's account retains their progress
  • All subscriptions start on the date you purchase rather than the date you set up the student's account
  • While subscriptions can't be paused, you can turn off auto-renew for Monthly and Yearly Subscriptions

Subscription Limits

Each Parent Account can have up to six active subscriptions and no more than 10 total (active or inactive) subscriptions. An inactive subscription is a subscription that has been canceled or has expired.

Subscription and Play Settings

All Parent Accounts have a Subscriptions tab and an Info & Payments tab.

The Subscriptions tab is where you manage each of your student's subscriptions and play settings.

Under the Subscriptions tab, you can adjust your student's subscription and play settings. Subscription settings control your student's Monthly Subscription, Yearly Subscription, or Bundle while play settings control how your student navigates through BA Online.

BA Level

Your student's level is the level they'll start BA Online at. Setting your student's level will automatically unlock the first lesson in the first chapter of the level you select.

Lock Scheme

You can set your student's lock scheme. Your student's lock scheme determines what lessons are unlocked for your student.

Email Updates

You can choose to receive email updates. Weekly progress updates include a summary of the work your student is doing in BA Online. You can add additional email addresses to share these weekly update emails with others. We also send updates to alert you of milestones and achievements, as well as potential problem areas and ways you can help. Those emails will only be sent to the primary email associated with your Parent Account.

Beast Builder Access

Students can build their own monster avatars in the Beast Builder. Gaining levels and earning Beast Bucks gives students more options for the parts they can use to build their monster (bodies, eyes, mouths, legs, wings, etc.)

Leaderboard Access

Students can view each other's statistics and rankings on the Beast Academy Leaderboards. Students can't communicate with each other and will only see the avatars and usernames (e.g. AffableSeagull23) of other users alongside their stats like trophies and XP earned. Turn Leaderboard access on to allow your student to view and participate in the Leaderboards. Turn Leaderboard access off if you'd prefer not to have your student view or participate in the Leaderboards.
